The Whitney Biennial is now on view from 20 March to 11 August 2024!

Experience the captivating 81st Whitney Biennial, where 71 artists grapple with pressing societal issues in the U.S. Titled Even Better Than the Real Thing this exhibition delves into the complexities of Artificial Intelligence, gender rhetoric, and bodily autonomy, amplifying voices confronting historical marginalisation. Curated by Chrissie Iles and Meg Onli, the Biennial offers an intimate exploration of a diverse array of voices challenging the conventional flattening of identity within the art world. As Meg Onli remarked in an interview for the exhibition catalogue, 'These artists want to destabilize the ways that identity gets flattened within the art world.' She continued, 'In organizing this biennial, Chrissie and I have had to consider a political moment as feverish as the culture wars of the 1990s. Artists are still struggling to make sure they are not essentialized.’
