The 2024 Los Angeles edition of Design Miami will make its debut from May 16 to 20 at the Private Holmby Hills estate in the city's northwest designed by the legendary 20th century architect Paul Williams. The theme Master Works: Important Design, 1938–Present, considers how contemporary design has evolved over recent decades and highlights Los Angeles’ role as an international arbiter of taste.

In celebration of the fair, Club members will receive our brochure of curated highlights from the cities top art events and enjoy an evening of conversation with the visionary designer Sami Hayek. This event will take place at the infamous LDV (La Dolce Vita) pop up, an invite-only design space inspired by the opulence of Studio 54 and the glamour of the art deco era. Click here to apply for Club membership and get the most from Design Miami. 2/ Charles Burnand Gallery supports fine craftsmanship with a special focus on the use of sustainable materials and production techniques and is set to unveil fresh architectural cast-glass sculptures by American artist Dawn Bendick work at Design LA. Made of Cast dichroic glass, electric colours are said to shift from the manipulation of light, creating different effects from artificial and natural sources. Describing the work Pipe and Rock Stack Rubble, the artist has explained: "This work melds together new colour combinations in addition to using a bespoke lighting system that shifts the glass colour, bringing more depth as it is experienced." We can’t wait to see the spectacular play of light and colour for ourselves!

3/ The Future Perfect stands out as a leading contemporary design gallery globally, known for its expansive vision and curated exhibitions. It features a blend of studio-created pieces alongside unique and limited edition works, highlighting its distinct curatorial approach. The gallery is set to showcase a collaborative project between two emerging artists from New York: sculptor Genesis Belanger and multidisciplinary Bower Studios. Their specialisms are merged to create a collection of acid-etched bronze mirrors featuring delicate hands with neon nails. The Future Perfect has explained that this work perfectly captures Belanger’s larger project, which examines "psychologically charged mise-en-scènes of idiosyncratic everyday objects".

4/Southern Guild showcases contemporary African artists whose work explores themes such as cultural preservation, spirituality, ancestral wisdom, and ecological awareness within today's context. The theme for their exhibition at Design Miami.LA will touch on narratives of nostalgia, ecology, and social consciousness in contemporary craft. A special highlight and must-see is the latest work by South African fashion and furniture designer Rich Mnisi. Entitled Dzuvula (Shedding Skin) utilising the symbolism of snakes as representing the duality of both fear and beauty. “A hiss resounds through this collection,” the gallery notes, “a sensuous whisper hinting at something deviant.” This artist is on our radar and was spotted at Beyoncé’s CÉCRED launch in Los Angeles recently!

5/Ornamentum focuses on the conceptual aspects of jewellery, curating significant works by both established and emerging international designers and artists. They collaborate with collectors, museums, architects, and art consultants to place noteworthy pieces in public and private collections, contributing to the development of strong collections of contemporary jewellery and related art and objects worldwide. Highlights of their presentation at Design Miami. LA will include jewellery pieces by the late Italian master Bruno Martinazzi, and a fantastic bronze octopus candelabra by David Bielander which is reminiscent of the decorative arts figurines popular in 19th century Vienna. The candelabra features an interactive element where adjusting its tentacles comically alters the creature's perceived size!
